Light it up - Music Video

Source: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r2LpOUwca94

A fascinating video which was created by Method Studios. I believe that this music video is much more fitting than the original taking into account the style of it and how it makes the audience feel. This music video creates a feel good emotion for the audience with the mixture of colour, shapes, textures and dancing. Compared to the the original its a much better fit for the song and I am sure many viewers would agree with me. Visually it is stunning and has a unique approach to how they want to represent the song. Im also sure that the original was supposed to feel unique as a black and white music video is not what most viewers would have expected.

The Avengers - Main Titles

Source: http://design.methodstudios.com/portfolio/the-avengers-main-on-end

The Avengers is an absolute blockbuster around the world as it brings all the best Marvel super heroes into one team on the big screen. The title sequence after did no disappoint either as it captures the audience as they want to keep them on track for the post credit scene. To do this you need to have a visually intensive and appealing credit scene showcasing the cast and producers. In this example Method Studios create a masterpiece as they explore close ups of the Marvel characters suits and weapons. The iconic soundtrack completely owns this 2 minutes of brilliance and the visual pleasure is amazing. Each character in the film has something unique to them from Iron Mans suit to Captain America's shield and Method Studios personifies that.

Be You! Believe In Yourself

Image result for be you believe in yourself

This graphic is very clever in they way it uses both colour and layout to display 2 messages within 3 words. The idea itself isn't that hard to execute but the thought process behind playing around with the words and experimenting to reach a solution like this is impressive. Powerful messages like this one deserve to be portrayed in creative ways.

Nike Winner Stays On Advert 2014

Another advert by Nike promoting their brand using their 'risk everything' strapline. In the ad stars like Ronaldo and Neymar are present aswell as the likes of Rooney, Zlatan and Iniesta. Several other top stars are also present. The advert itself makes the boys feel like they are the best players playing on the big stage, all of course sponsored by Nike. In the last clip one of the boys takes a penalty kick off of Ronaldo in the dying seconds of the game. I believe this enhances their 'risk everything' strapline as the pay off is the feeling of accomplishment and glory.

Nike 2014 World Cup Advert

The World Cup is the biggest sporting event in history and can be used to advertise all over the world. Nike created an animation with all its biggest stars such as C.Ronaldo and Neymar to promote their brand. They use the strapline 'risk everything' and promote their Nike boots. The animation shows that clones maybe perfect but taking risks is what sets us apart. Animation allows them to experiment much more and its one of the very few they have ever done, a risk in itself yet a very successful ad.

'There is no bigger danger than playing it safe.'

#ManOnTheMoon - John Lewis Advert 2015

John Lewis are by far one of the best advertisers that get the emotion out of their audience, especially around a special time like Christmas. They somehow are able to grasp the audience like no other brand and indulge them in the story. Of course they tend to use children as they are the ones who tend to forget about what Christmas really means and what it should represent. In this particular advert I believe the contrast between the old man and the young girl shows that just because you are different doesn't mean gifts/presents have to be different too. In this case the girl sends a telescope to the man to show that he isn't alone, and all the old man really wants is to know someone acknowledges his presence on the moon.

LoL Game client design - Interface Analysis

Image result for league of legends launcher

I have been playing this game for about 3 years now and I have always appreciated the layout of the launcher design and the client itself. It is not clustered and uses space very well to communicate important messages to the users. The use of squares/rectangles is both simple and efficient, it doesn't confuse the user and so they can see every bit of information clearly. When you are the most played game in the world it is vital to keep your players informed and entertained and so they need to be able to read and see images easily.

Circus of Magazines - Logo Analysis

Image result for circus of magazines

I love this logo. The idea of it just makes me feel good. Who needs colour or super detailed art when you have a simply genius logo. A logo's purpose is to represent what it needs to represent and this does it perfectly. It is literally a circus tent made of magazines. Sometimes an idea just works because a moment of genius takes place, alot of the successful logo's in the worlds are simple yet iconic and don't require complex imagery.

Finding Nemo - Poster

Image result for finding nemo poster

Overall I this 1 poster shows the shear scale and view of the film. This 1 image creates numerous interactions with the audience because of the number of characters, colours and scenery. The younger audience are mesmerised by explosive posters that engage them and make them look at every single inch of the image. Another big aspect is that 90% of the poster is imagery and the only typography is the title of the film.

Artistic piece - Shepard Fairey

Many of Shepard Fairey's pieces are either political or cultural. In this case he get an extremely cultural vibe with the use of patterns and the muslim girl wearing a scarf. I enjoy stylistic patterns that have very intense detail. What I like the most is that it doesn't need any colour to be effective which personifies the pattern even more.

Virgin Media #BeTheFastest - TV Advert

Usain Bolt is an icon. He is the fastest man alive. This advert truly represents how to capture your audience. The repetitiveness of 9.58 secs and the gun shot with the announcer saying 'set' is amazing. Virgin really made something special that makes you remember this advert and to this day is one of the best I have ever seen. Every segment is important and contributes to this advert, from the young boy playing a real life video game to Usain Bolt becoming an actual super hero, unbelievable imagination.

Hillary Clinton - Political Poster

Image result for hillary clinton poster

Hillary Clinton potentially could have become the first ever female President of the United States. She believes heavily in empowered women and has proven that by running for President. Her poster is available on her website and the official 'face' of her campaign. It is a very smart poster visually because the rays of light represent the sun and the sun is a source of power which Hillary wants heavily for women. The rays also contrast well with the blue image of her as that is the colour of her campaign as Trumps is red.

Donald Trump - Political Poster

Image result for take back our country donald trump

You may not support Trump (I know i don't) but this poster would maybe sway you as a neutral American voter toward him. The key word in this poster is 'our' and how it impacts the reader. The best thing a poster can provide is engagement and the word 'our' does just that. This poster makes the audience feel like he is running for you not just himself, and I think many people would like to see that from the President of the United States. The visual aspect of it is also very strong with the eagle in stripes showing direction to the number 16, iconic for the year of 2016.

Google 'Pixel' Phone - Advert

The new Google phone advert is both smart and engaging; most of the advert does not show the phone, which is interesting. I believe the white block that blocks out the most important part of every clip/segment keeps you guessing as what it could be blocking out. I am also guessing the point of this advert is to feel like if you do not know the answer to something Google will answer it for you. In my opinion the only reason this advert is successful and works in the first place is because Google created it, when you already have a big name the images do the talking for you. Starting off with the iconic 'search bar' and the boy saying 'I don't know, ask Google is perfection. It slowly then transforms into the new high end phone that they are releasing, Pixel.

Designated Survivor - Advertising

Image result for designated survivor poster

The Designated Survivor advertising was both smart an efficient, not only is it a great piece of design but the timing of the shows release was perfect too. It came at a time where the real life presidential election is coming to a climax. For such a patriotic and vivid poster design it catches the eye of all the American viewers. It's not only the Americans who would find this attractive and intriguing, from a British point of view I still found the direction and purpose of the poster very effective. The hard block colours and stripes of the American flag sends a message to me that it is a very political show. As a side note it's an amazing show.

Entertainment - Trolls Film Poster

A very simple film poster but it makes the viewer feel good with how colourful it is. The use of the swirling rainbow colours is super eye catching and will grab anyones attention no matter how old you are. Its a cute addition to add the character in the back holding the 'O' up with its eyes peering through and the caption below saying 'find your happy place'. Even though its a very vibrant and fun poster they still include important information such as the producers 'DreamWorks' and the headline cast in Anna Kendrick and Justin Timberlake.

Entertainment - Don't Breathe Leaflet Advert

This was an advert for a horror film I saw in a leaflet. I think that advertising that educates the reader about something are the best forms of advertising and this one does exactly that. With just 2 sentences and a very visual image it gives me a good idea of what the plot of the film is and why I should spend my time watching it. I also like small things that you have to look closely to see such as the silhouette of the man in the house in the top window (image quality is bad). Also the characters in the front and the objects they are holding and how that impacts the assumptions of the reader.

Entertainment - Transformers Film Poster

Transformers is a very popular franchise not just on the big screen but on the small screen too. This is a poster for their upcoming 2017 film and I feel like the are going for a retro style marketing strategy because the poster has a very animated feel to it. Transformers was originally a cartoon series in which it grew massively, the idea to make it a real life film has gained alot of money and they are not stopping with this upcoming new release. I think it is smart to advertise it in this animated way because this is how the franchise was born and apparently this is the last Transformers film they will do under director Michael Bay. Maybe they want to end in the style it started but obviously the film will not be animated. Another reason to have a cartoony approach is that the films plot is returning to its roots where the cartoon itself was played out, Cybertron. The first film where Earth may not be the main location so another reason why the advertising isnt the same format as the previous films.

Entertainment - Rings Film Poster

A perfect example of a picture can speak a thousand words. This image definitely lets the picture do the talking. I love how they decided to use a 3D element to really make the viewer feel like they are apart of the poster especially it being a horror film. The advertising is unique and creates an aura for the viewer without there being too many resources used. Its hard to make a film poster/point of sale totally indulge the audience. I stared at this one for a good 30 secs as I felt the need to really observe what the film could be about.

Business - H20 Car Wash

H2O is a car washing service that I saw in the parking area of the Trafford Centre in Manchester. The idea of it is that you leave your care to get cleaned while you go shopping which is something ive never seen before. I think its a great idea because one of the main reasons people hate getting their car washed is that they have to wait in the car while it happens. This way you can go and do whatever you want in a very popular shopping centre while you car is being 'pampered'.

Clothing - Seth Rollins Merchandise

Seth Rollins "Redesign, Rebuild, Reclaim" Youth Special Edition T-ShirtSeth Rollins "Redesign, Rebuild, Reclaim" Lightweight Hoodie SweatshirtSeth Rollins "Seth 'Freakin' Rollins" Authentic T-Shirt

Seth Rollins' merchandise is very well designed and is too over the top with how it is presented. The simple shaped typography, logo and lines are super effective and it looks very clean and concise. His logo especially is just a formation of lines and a circle, there is no insane detail which I like alot. It shows that his character can sell this merch without it being the fanciest of clothing but it looks really cool.

Entertainment - Nakamura Entrance WWE

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UkR5sUk-x4g

Shinsuke Nakamura is one of the charismatic wrestlers of all time. His entrance at NXT Takeover Brooklyn II was just a special spectacle. He is one of the only superstars that get the crowd involved and they sing along with his very unique Japanese music (American crowd). A very standard superstar entrance would maybe include fireworks and lots of colourful lights, this was very different because Nakamura had flashing white lights, a spotlight and a violinist, yet he made it his own and it got alot of praise from fans all over the world. He used very little resources and created a magical entrance that got the crowd excited for the upcoming main event in which he came away the deserved winner.

Travel - Emirates Advert

Emirates is a very well known Air Line across the world. Jeniffer Aniston is a very popular actor across the world. This mixture for a commercial was bound fro success. Many Air Line adverts try to hard to be subtle to make the viewer feel relaxed so they can embrace what they are watching, this advert is one of few that I actually think had an impact on me. The little boy is a great touch because it shows how friendships can be made on the journey and what Emirates has to offer. It starts with Jennifer exiting a shower spa on board an Aeroplane. She passes another passenger who is tucking into his high value meal. They have a drinks bar that serves the 2 of them carrot juice which they proceed to drink of the top of the stairs on the Air Bus. They have in-built Entertainment with the TV screens which the father of the child seemed to be enjoying. Jennifer is then asked if she would like to 'return to her seat' which she politely refuses because she is fine where she is. The mother of the child occupies the actors seat and embraces the leisure it offers. All these things seem to fly by during the advert but they all contribute to showing the benefits the A380 Air Bus has. My favourite segment is how it ends, the child says when he's a pilot he will fly around the world 'even faster' in which Jennifer replies 'that's a shame, it's so nice up here'. Truly brilliant advertising showing how Celebrity endorsement should be used.

TV Entertainment - The Apprentice Teasers

Image may contain: one or more people and textImage may contain: one or more people

The Apprentice is a popular TV show where Lord Sugar is looking for a business partner. I believe that the show is solely about the candidates and what they have to offer throughout the tasks. Approaching the weeks to the first episode the BBC Apprentice Facebook page released a series of images with silhouettes of the candidates and a direct quote captioned onto each image. I think this is a brilliant way to allow the audience to assume and make judgements without even seeing who they actually are. This definitely got me excited for this series because I already realised how competitive it could get with just 1 quote from each of them.

Entertainment - Logan Film Poster

Logan is an up coming film that many Wolverine fans have been waiting for. This is the first reveal of anything to do with the film and I believe it is very unique but still powerful. The image shows Wolverine with his claws out which is automatically revealing the film is a Wolverine film. The actual title of the film is 'Logan' which is Wolverines real name yet fans who aren't familiar with 'Logan' probably are familiar with his claws. The other significant part of the image is the small hand holding Wolverines hand. Now this pretty much sums up the poster because it shows that the  film may not be entirely focused on Wolverine himself. I believe its a very vivid image because a small hand would signify a young character and why would someone young want to hold just a dangerous man's hand?

Business - Lloyds Bank Advert

In my opinion this Lloyds bank advert is extremely powerful and it has almost nothing to do with banking. The advert itself shows every day people going through different scenarios in life and I think it shows that Lloyds can help you no matter what you are going through. The music is also an integral part to this advert because of high famous it is and the suspense it holds behind it. I love how it plays through all the scenarios in slow motion and the climax of it is the enjoyable and happy moments in life which is played in real speed.

Product Packaging - Razer

This product is one I own myself and I believe the packaging is a big part of why I was interested in it. I love the colour combo of green and black especially because snakes who are a huge USP of this brand are such deadly animals. The layout and how the type on the packaging is very neat and doesnt cluster the important info. On the back of the box there is also more info about the product and it is presented clearly and the colours do not clash. The side of the box has a hole where the user can feel the material of the mouse mat which is another reason I bought this product.

Entertainment - GTA Game covers

GTA is an extremely successful video game series that allows players to pretty much do whatever they want. A successful game like GTA requires consistency and although the game itself has changes slightly throughout the years, the front covers style has not. Immediately you can see that since GTA 3 which was released in 2001 that the style has stayed pretty much identical. The logo and branding of it tells me that if something isnt broke there is no need to try and fix it similar to what alot franchises do. The cutouts expose the mood, time and place of where each game is being set.

Business/Banking - Barclays advert

Barclays are much more than just a banking company now, they provide other services that their target audience maybe interested in. This is primarily targeted at an older audience who aren't as adapted to the digital age of socialising yet. The advert itself shows the process in action and why the customer is seeking help in the first place. Barclays do well to show a balance in this advert because an elderly customer needs help from the younger employee who even goes with him to film a Facebook video to get them started online. I find it very interesting how this is focused at an older audience but the solution is the digital age of exposure.

Entertainment - Start Trek Beyond Posters

The posters for Star Trek Beyond are very cohesive they apply alot of the focus to the white lady in the middle which would signify she plays a major part in the film. I am more intrigued with the direction they take in terms of how they presented these posters. They are extremely linear and use lighting, shadows and colour to their advantage. Furthermore the posters have a few differences such as the mood the give off, the one on the left is much more bright and dynamic whereas the 2nd one  is more subtle and focused on the title and the info given below.

Doctor Strange - Trailer

In my opinion one of the best Marvel Cinematic trailers ever. This film is a must watch from the moment you finish watching this trailer. He is an extremely unique character in the MCU and with Benedict Cumberbatch as the lead role you know this film will not disappoint. Visually there is nothing quite like a film like this, the closest i can compare it to is maybe Inception with how the buildings flip upside down etc. It also includes some humour which is standard from any Marvel film but it focuses on the Doctor which should be the main attraction of the film.

FarCry 4 Promo

FarCry 4 Promo

A very good example of a trailer that makes you want to buy it just so you can see what the game offers. Alot of the visuals and gameplay is shown in this video but it doesn't tell you anything about plot or storyline so you can find out for yourself when you buy it. The graphics on this game give a wild emotion to the viewer which is what makes FarCry a unique franchise. Its genre is all about exploring and adventure, an escape from reality to Kyrat. The segment where the Blue Elephant and Orange Tiger clash and create the FarCry 4 logo is one of my favourite interactions in a trailer ever.

WWE Battleground Promo

WWE Battleground Promo

I believe the promotion for any Pay-per-view show is important and the one for WWE Battleground was great. The 'war' feeling it gives with the specific music and how all the superstars are holding their flags with their logos on them is amazing. In 30 secs you already know its going to be a good show and they include all the info you need to watch it at the end of the video.

King Kong Skull Island - Trailer

Sky Advert - David Beckam

Sky are one of the biggest companies in the UK and their
sports channel is definitely the most watched. Although David Beckam made his name through football he is now one of the most famous celebrities to come out of the UK. I believe this ad shows how capable Sky is in endorsing celebrities. Analysing this ad I think that it is very clear that football is the biggest attraction to Sky Sports and the Premier league brings in the views, when David Beckam is jogging around for you for an advert you know it's for a good channel. Beckam takes the viewer for a run around town and in doing so showing that you are missing out if you don't own Sky sports. The advert also does a great job in showing how popular the Premier League really is, you hear it in a pub, in a household and on the radio.
